EDWARD MAYHEW (c1762-1814) - HAIRDRESSER OF LONDON, MIDDLESEX

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN

I, Edward Mayhew of the county of Middlesex, hairdresser, being very weak in body but in perfect mind and memory knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make this my last will and testament, that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I commend to the earth to be buried in devout Christian burial at the direction of my executor, as touching such worldly estate, wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, devise and dispose of in the following manner and form.

First I give and bequeath to Sarah my dearly beloved wife all my freehold, leasehold and personal property together with all my household goods, debts and moveable effects freely to be possessed and enjoyed by her during her life and if any remain at her death to come to my well beloved daughter Sarah Mayhew. I do hereby constitute, make and ordain my uncle John Denny my sole executor. I do hereby ratify and confirm this ??? to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th day of June in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen. Signed, sealed, published, pronounced and declared by the said Edward Mayhew as his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names. Witness: Savage Ewert, Thomas Cowle, James Cushing

Proved at London 3rd May 1814 before the worshipful John Dodson Doctor of Laws and Surr(ogate) by the oath of John Denny sole executor to whom admon was granted, being sworn to administer.
