LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
This is the last Will and Testament of me William Cobb of the city of Norwich, Gentleman. First I nominate and appoint my son William Robert Cobb and my daughter Sarah Ann, the wife of Brame Bullock of Lynn Regis, in the County of Norfolk, Grocer, Executor and Executrix of this my Will. And I give and bequeath unto them my said Executor and Executrix the sum of ten pounds each for his and her care and trouble in proving and executing the same.
And it is my will and I do hereby desire to be decently and privately buried in the churchyard belonging to the parish of Holt in the County of Norfolk and I direct that the expense attending the same may not exceed the sum of Twenty Pounds.
And I give and bequeath unto my said son William Robert Cobb (in addition to the above legacy of Ten Pounds) the sum of Nineteen Pounds and Ten Shillings and to his wife Rose Cobb the sum of Ten Pounds to and for their own use and benefit. And to their three children, William Crowfoot Cobb, Susannah Cooper Cobb and Sarah Ann Cobb, the sum of Nine Pounds each to and for his, her and their own separate use and benefit.
Also I give and bequeath unto my son-in-law the said Brame Bullock the sum of Ten Pounds and to his wife the said Sarah Ann Bullock (in addition to the aforesaid legacy of Ten pounds) the sum of Nineteen Pounds and Ten Shillings to and for their own use and benefit, and to their four children, Elizabeth Bullock, Henry Brame Bullock, Margaret Ann Bullock and Edward Mills Bullock, the sum of Nine pounds each to and for his, her and their own separate use and benefit.
Also I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Cobb the sum of Nineteen Pounds and Ten Shillings and to his wife Maria Cobb the sum of Ten Pounds to and for their own use and benefit. And to their two children, Thomas Cobb and Maria Cooper Cobb, the sum of Nine Pounds each to and for his and her own separate use and benefit.
Also I give and bequeath unto my son Robert Cobb the sum of One Pound for his use.
Also I give and bequeath my silver watch with its appendages unto my Grandson the said William Crowfoot Cobb, but in the event of his death in my lifetime, I give and bequeath the same unto my son William Robert Cobb.
And it is my will and I do hereby direct and empower my said Executor and Executrix to pay to Thomas Smedley of Nottingham, Tailor, the sum of Eight pounds and Ten Shillings being a debt to that amount which my said son Robert Cobb hath lately contracted with him and which he is unable to discharge, provided it shall appear to the satisfaction of my said Executor and Executrix that the same debt shall remain unpaid at the time of my decease but not otherwise.
And as to all the rest, residue and remainder of my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature and kind soever the same may be or consist of at the time of my decease (after payment thereout of all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses and the changes incident to the proving and executing this my Will, I do give and bequeath the same unto and to be equally divided between or amongst all such of my said sons and daughters (excepting my said son Robert) as shall be living at the time of my decease, to and for his, her and their own separate use, benefit and disposal.
And it is my will that the said several legacies or sums of money so given and bequeathed as aforesaid shall be paid or become payable to the several legatees abovenamed within six calendar months next after my decease. And it is my will that my said Executor and Executrix shall not be answerable or accountable for any loss or misfortune that may happen to my said Estate, unless the same happens by his or her wilful default and that each of them shall be at liberty to reimburse themselves out of the residue of my said Estate all expenses to be incurred by themselves in the execution of this my Will.
And lastly I hereby revoke all former Wills by me made and declare this only to be my Last Will and Testament, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Sixteenth day of August in the Year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty six.
Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Testator as and for his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us, who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.
